Brownbar's Advent Calendars

Nick's Mum, Jean, used to like to put up an advent calendar on her website.  Unfortunately I can find only one of them.  Here is a link to it.  advent2002

There was one defect with this advent calendar.  You could open the windows any time you wanted to and what she really wanted to create was a calendar where you could not open a window before the correct date in December.  So in 2010, in a major collaboration with the brownbar organisation, she produced the best calendar yet.  Using javascript and cookies this calendar did not allow you to open any window before the correct date and "remembered" which ones had been opened.  Of course time has passed and you can now open any window you like.  Here's my copy of it.  advent2010

And if you really want to see how it worked at the time you will have to turn your computer date back to some time in December 2010 or before.  Or you can use my debug version here - just go right to the bottom and change the date to something in or before December 2010 and click on GO and it will behave as though that were the day.  advent2010withdebug
